Jet lagged

We arrived home early Thursday morning (3am). A friend surprised us and met us at the airport. I'm sure we looked awful after the long flight. I don't wear make up on that flight and we were all wrinkly and exhausted. But it sure was nice to see her smiling face there. She dropped us and all of our luggage off at the apartment and it was good to be home. We unpacked a little and then hit the sack. The last time we did this I didn't have much trouble with jet lag but this time... In fact, it is 5am and I am up typing this. If you know me, you KNOW I don't get up this early! Guess it will pass in a few more days.

Singapore looks great. The weather is much more hot and humid than when we left but not unbearable. You are never too far from air conditioning! Thursday afternoon we met our team members for coffee and supper. It was so nice to get back with them. We have missed them so much. Friday we finished unpacking and I started realizing all the things I should have bought while I was in the states. Will have other opportunities soon so I'm not worried.

Saturday we stayed at home - Singapore is too busy on Saturday to get out. Just not ready for those crowds yet. But yesterday we went to church. I sat by a young man who had a great voice so it was nice harmonizing with him on the praise and worship songs. I wore some new shoes and had blisters all on my toes before it was all over! But it was a good day. our friends came over for supper and we played cards.

Today we are going shopping in Little India. I will try to find a few things for the apartment. We sure do love it. I am getting anxious now to get our "stuff" from West Africa. Don't know when that will be. Hopefully this summer some time. It has been three years since I packed it up in boxes there. It will be like Christmas opening them up now. And sad, too - because alot of the kids' stuff will be in there.

Have a great day.

Heading Home

Well, the bags are about 90% packed. We have moved from our nice mission house to a hotel room. We still have some last minute things to do at the office plus a little shopping and errand running to do. We have said all of our goodbyes (except for our oldest daughter and her husband - we are eating with them tonight). And we are shifting gears as we prepare for the LONG trip back to Singapore tomorrow. Will you PLEASE pray for us?

The flight to Detroit is 2 hours.
The flight to Tokyo is nearly 14 hours!
The flight on to Singapore is another 8 hours!

Whew!

We will arrive in Singapore on Thursday. We will be there for 13 days before flying to Israel for 8 days of meetings (and a little touring). We fly back to Singapore for 6 days and then head back to the states on April 28.

Our stateside office has its grand opening on May 1. Please pray for that, too!

Will write when I get back on the other side of the world!

Fallen off the face of the earth?

Sorry I have been so lax in updating the blog. Rick and I have been traveling so much I can't even keep up with where I am. Does the line - meeting myself coming and going mean anything to you? Ha.

We arrived in the states on February 12 and hit the ground running. We were able to see our son after his recent tornado experience and loss at Union and he was fine. There's something about HEARING him say he's okay and actually SEEING and FEELING him to be sure. He (and we) have been humbled at the way people have continued to meet his (and other students at Union) needs. Thanks to all of you for praying him through his own disaster.

We have seen our other children and they are all doing great.

Rick and I will be stateside until March 25 then we will head back to Singapore for about two weeks before our next trip - Israel! I'll keep you posted.
